Beginning this Thursday, July 12, 2012, the United Way of El Paso County’s Volunteer Action Center (VAC) is presenting a free summer workshop series for local organizations seeking volunteers. Each two hour workshop will begin at 10:00 a.m. and be held in the United Way Board room located at 1918 Texas Ave.
Workshop topics include:
- July 12- Volunteer Action Center 101
- July 19- Learn How to Engage and Maximize Volunteer Potential
- July 26- Panel: Best Volunteer Engagement Practices
Managed by the United Way of El Paso County, the Volunteer Action Center is a highly effective, online recruiting tool used to match volunteers to volunteer opportunities throughout the El Paso Community.
“Agencies are finding an increasing need to utilize volunteers to help make a difference in the community. Through the course of the series, attendees will be able to better navigate the Volunteer Action Center and learn tools that can assist in recruiting and retaining volunteers,” said Deborah A. Zuloaga, President and CEO of the United Way of El Paso County.
“The United Way’s Volunteer Action Center has been critical to our mission of spreading literacy throughout the El Paso area.” states Paula Madriles, Executive Director for Books are Gems.
There is no fee to enroll in the workshop series and it is open to all non-profit agencies, government entities, schools, faith-based organization, neighborhood associations and/or any organization that engages volunteers in direct service.
