The Salvation Army turned out to be the perfect backdrop for our second Employee Campaign Coordinator (ECC) Orientation. Representatives from El Paso Electric and Federal Express Ground spent last Tuesday afternoon learning about the role of the ECC followed by the opportunity to feed shelter residents during an interactive volunteer opportunity.
Major Michael Morton of the Salvation Army welcomed the coordinators and stressed the importance of being a coordinator and how important the United Way is to an organization like the Salvation Army.
“It is not about the science of raising money. It is about saving lives.” – Major Morton
His moving presentation was immediately followed by dinner for more than 150 shelter residents. They welcomed the “guest kitchen staff” and were very appreciative for their support and willingness to serve.
We would like to thank Irma Chavez from Federal Express Ground for bringing her hard work and dedication to the community.
We would also like to thank El Paso Electric employees Mayra Kelley and her family, Dolores Guerrero, Elizabeth Layman and her son, and Aimee Saldivar for their support of the United Way and their participation in this week’s orientation.
Both El Paso Electric and Federal Express Ground kick off their campaigns soon. We know they will do great things again this year and we will keep you updated.
