The United Way of El Paso County has welcomed three new staff members.

Rebecca Vorel has been hired as the Community Engagement Coordinator. She joins the United Way after teaching American culture in Austria for two years for the Fulbright Commission. A University of Maryland graduate in Government and Politics, Vorel brings a unique perspective to this position. She will be overseeing the Volunteer Action Center, Global Youth Service Day, and Alternative Spring Break.

Lorena L. Gomez, an El Paso native, joins the staff as Marketing and Communications Coordinator. She began her career in non-profit after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Texas at El Paso. Gomez has since gained experience in business development and event coordination, recently at the El Paso Convention & Visitors Bureau. She will be charged with the coordination of all communication efforts from the United Way of El Paso County.

Giovany Walters joins the staff as a Finance Assistant, filling the void left by one of our employees on maternity leave. Born in Panama and raised in Hawaii, Walters has called El Paso home for 8 years. She is studying Business Accounting and Finance at El Paso Community College. In her spare time, Walters serves as an assistant basketball coach at the YMCA.
