United Way of El Paso County joins United Way Worldwide in assisting those affected by the devastating EF5 tornado in Moore, OK. The disaster relief fund, which had been used in the aftermath of the 1999 tornado and the Oklahoma City bombing, has been reactivated at the request of donors. Those seeking efficient and accountable ways to assist with the relief effort can do so by making a monetary donation to United Way of Central Oklahoma.
Fund dollars will be distributed without administrative fees to United Way Partner Agencies working on the tornado relief efforts. Agencies must clearly prove services provided and demonstrate need for financial support. Organizations that receive United Way disaster fund assistance will be evaluated and held strictly accountable. The May Tornado Relief Fund will serve both immediate needs, intermediate, and long-term care.
“Our thoughts are with the city of Moore, OK, during this difficult time,” said United Way of El Paso County Board Chair Janet Aguilar, “We understand the cost of damage continues to rise and we know that concerned El Pasoans are seeking ways to help.”
