The 2013 United Way fall season of workplace giving campaigns is well underway, with many companies nearing the completion of their campaign and several others preparing to kick off. We thank all participating companies, and would like to highlight a few.
Wells Fargo, one of the largest United Way supporters worldwide, wrapped up their local campaign, with all divisions joining the LIVE UNITED movement. Thank you to Janet Aguilar, United Way Board Chair, Christine Gallegos, United Way board member, Charlene Alba, past United Way board member, Fred Brown, Lydia Cordova, Yolanda Garcia, Irene Hernandez, Martha Rochford and store managers: Edgar Flores, Eddie Hernandez, Kris Kershaw, Sarah Lee, Matthew Mena, Rebekah Morales, Debbie Ortiz, Henry Parra, Jose Pompa, Sergio Rodriguez, Michelle Siguentes.
Center Against Family Violence not only surpassed their employee giving goal, but they raised their participation by more than 50 percent. To celebrate their success, Executive Director Stephanie Karr joined staff in painting her hair purple on October 1st, the start of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Thank you, Stephanie, and Employee Campaign Coordinator (ECC) Denise Loya, for the great campaign effort.
In preparation for their campaign kickoff, Federal Reserve employees toured the Sarah McKnight Transitional Living Center to see the impact that donor dollars are making. Employees also participated in “Jean Week,” as jeans and a commitment to our community never go out of style! Thank you to CEO and United Way Board member, Dr. Roberto Coronado, and ECC Jason Rodriguez.
UPS SCS employees are also putting the fun into fundraising, with their 3rd annual bowling challenge on October 12th. Their campaign efforts were made even sweeter with the custom UPS and United Way cupcakes that were provided to employees. Thank you to ECC Felipe Flores.
The Child Crisis Center of El Paso added an enticing incentive for employee participation. The management team allowed staff members to throw a cream pie at the face of their boss of choice in exchange for their $5 bi-weekly pledge. Thank you to Executive Director Al Velarde and ECC Martha Hernandez.
During this 90th year anniversary, we are telling United Way’s story through community supporters and testimonials from people whose lives have been changed by your donation. We thank you for the impact you make in so many lives in our community on a daily basis. We also thank Alex and Celina, Dean, and Inell for sharing their stories, in hopes that it will inspire El Pasoans to continue their support of United Way and the programs that create a better life for all.
We ask that you watch the five minute video on our homepage, and see how United Way is changing lives.
