Living Ins’t Living Until You Give

In the midst of our 2013 workplace giving campaign, we are inspired by the creative ways participating companies encourage employees to meet and exceed their donation goal.

University Medical Center (UMC) employee, Carmen Castillo, wrote a poem about the importance of giving. It was then shared with UMC associates, in hopes that they will dig deep and support United Way programs. We would like to share the poem with you.

Living Isn’t Living Until You Give

Living isn’t living until you give

your time, your resources, your understanding, your caring.

Living isn’t living until you give

For those that can’t help themselves, for those in need, for those that are sick, for the poor.

Living isn’t living until you give

To educate, to change a life, to help a child, to give a voice.

Living isn’t living until you give

To provide food, provide shelter, provide clothing, provide kindness.

Living isn’t living until you give

To help the victims of violence, help families that struggle, held those coping with illness, help

For a better tomorrow.

Living isn’t living until you give

So do it for hope. Do it because you care. Do it because you can. Do it to bless another life.

Living isn’t living until you give

For others, for yourself, and for the love of another.

Do it as thanks that you are able to give.

So give so that we can live and help others live also.
