United Way of El Paso County Announces New 2014-2015 Officers and Board Members

United Way of El Paso County held its Annual Meeting of the Board and Annual Meeting of the membership at the Marriott Hotel on Wednesday April 30, 2014. Board Officers were elected and eleven individuals were newly elected to serve on the 2014-2015 Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is comprised of community leaders responsible for the governance of the organization including its mission, policies, and strategic planning.

Newly elected Board Officers are:

  • Board Chair – Steve Busser, Community Leader
  • Board Chair Elect – Mitzi Shannon, Kemp Smith LLP
  • Secretary – Shannon Osborne, University of Texas at El Paso
  • Treasurer – Ruben Hernandez, JPMorgan Chase Bank
  • Immediate Past Chair – Janet Aguilar, USI Insurance Services

Newly elected Board Members are:

  • Susana Aguilera, American Federation of Government Employees, Local 2516
  • Carmen Arrieta-Candelaria, City of El Paso
  • John Colucci, The Fountains at Farah
  • Elizabeth Dipp Metzger, Crown Wealth Strategies/New York Life Insurance Company
  • Benjamin Fresquez,El Paso Children’s Hospital and President of United Way Young Leaders Society
  • Bertha Gallardo, Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare System
  • Vic Kilby, UPS Brown
  • Antonio Martinez, ReadyOne Industries
  • Dr. Steven Saldivar,Anthony ISD
  • Cynthia Villa, University of Texas at El Paso
  • Hector Villegas, BBVA Compass Bank

Also during the meeting, the following individuals were re-elected to the board of directors:

  • Mary Bustillos,  AT&T
  • Juan De La Torre, International Union of Operating Engineers Local #351
  • John Quinn, Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, and
  • Omar Villa, Emergence Health Network

“We are fortunate to have such a diverse group of individuals committed to the mission of United Way of El Paso County,” said Board Chair Steve Busser. “The combined support of the Board of Directors will continue to move our efforts in Education, Basic Needs, and Income forward.”
