Over the past two weeks, Bank of America branches all over El Paso have placed bins in their lobbies and encouraged staff to donate non-perishable food items to benefit El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank.
In an opportunity arranged by United Way of El Paso County, Bank of America branches in El Paso competed amongst each other to collect food to donate to El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank; with the winning branch getting a pizza lunch.
Bank of America prides itself on serving and influencing positive change in the community. This is the first food drive Bank of America has held and it aims to encourage volunteerism and deeper community involvement within the company.
“United Way helps with basic needs in the community, food being one of them, and we want to make an impact where we live,” said Yadira Silva, Personal Banker at Bank of America. “It may be difficult to donate your time if you have a busy schedule, but we can most definitely be an example and give to those in need.”
The food drive received a great response and Bank of America employees are already thinking of what they can do next. “It gives us pride to serve our community, we hope that this will help families in need,” Silva said.
