United Way’s LIVE UNITED campaign kicks off with a Community United Baby Shower

The United Way of El Paso County (UWEPC) kicked off its yearly workplace giving campaign last Tuesday by launching a Community United Baby Shower donation drive to help at-risk expecting mothers and arriving babies have a healthy start to their new life.

The drive is currently collecting diapers (sizes 1 & 2), baby wipes and toiletries from employees at supporting workplaces that host giving campaigns on behalf of UWEPC. Donations gathered will be sorted and packed into gift bags by volunteers.

To celebrate the mommies-to-be, UWEPC will host a baby shower celebration for the mothers and their families featuring food, games, and giveaways. There the mothers, who have been selected from UWEPC funded agencies and partner organizations, will be able to collect their baby gift bag.

Plus, in effort to offer families as many resources as possible, WIC, registered dietitians, pediatricians, the Parents as Teachers Program, Project Vida, Centro San Vicente, and The Hospitals of Providence Teen Health Resource Center will be hosting informational booths at the event.

Collection of baby supplies ends on Tues., September 15 and will be followed by the celebration on Sat., Sept. 19. UWEPC hopes the success of this event will lead to the creation of an annual event that not only helps expecting mothers but also fosters the spirit of giving within the community.

Many thanks to the supporting workplaces hosting drives and providing volunteers:
